Bouler Design Group is an architectural collaborative based on Long Island, New York, dedicated to designing buildings that are aesthetically, ecologically, and conceptually progressive. Their designs are innovative in how they connect materials with location, developing spaces which are at once elegant, efficient, and most of all, livable. Creating homes using sustainable energy, Bouler Design Group is integrating new technology without sacrificing comfort. Jan Tyler of Newsday describes Bouler Design Group’s waterfront home on Dune Road in Westhampton, NY as, “bold strokes of curved beams frame the spectacular setting, which is even visible from an interior balcony over the great room.”
James Bouler, RA, AIA
Principal
After completing his Bachelor of Architecture from Auburn University, James Bouler went on to earn a masters degree in sculpture at SUNY Stony Brook. Thus he is able to use his architectural and engineering expertise to create high-end residences which are breathtaking examples of livable sculpture. One example is the Moriches residence featured in Newsday’s Home magazine section which “uses major architectural components—roof, walkway, windows, fireplace—to create a dynamic environment that constantly reveals itself to you as you move through the house.” (Newsday, May 2002) James Bouler’s furniture designs have been displayed in several New York galleries, as well as the International Contemporary Furniture Fair and Home Magazine.
